There are several ways Seattle restaurants can invest in our industry’s current and future workforce.
FareStart’s Foodservice Apprenticeship Program
This program is for people who want to change a job in foodservice into a career. Apprentices receive coaching and work side-by-side with FareStart staff-mentors to gain the skills they need to succeed in busy restaurants.
It is an ideal program for a team member who has initiative and needs to gain more skills. The program offers pathways to successful careers that build on the apprentice’s past experience. These include service tracks to positions such as Restaurant Server, Bartender and Coffee Shop Lead, and culinary tracks to positions including Corporate Dining Lead Cook, Catering Cook and Restaurant Lead Line Cook.
The program is offered in partnership with the Washington Hospitality Association.

Washington Hospitality Association Education Foundation
The Education Foundation offers a range of programs and resources to support restaurants and their employees.
ProStart gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents, and it opens the doors to fulfilling careers in the hospitality industry. Industry operators serve as mentors and provide support for ProStart students by helping them make a real connection to their goals and their future.
